The Ten-Year Hit a 19-Year High. Then Credit Spreads Moved.

The ten-year closed Monday at 5.241%, a nineteen-year record, and traded above 5.26% early Tuesday. The Dow lost 347.11 points. The number that actually changed sits in credit. The spread between US high-yield corporate bonds and Treasuries jumped nine basis points to 303, the widest since April. Gold slid about 4% in the same stretch. A rate story has become a credit story.

Green Coffee Company is the largest vertically integrated Colombian coffee producer in the country. It grows, mills, roasts, and ships, managing every step from seed to cup.
Revenue exploded from $1M in 2021 to $26M in 2025. The exclusive U.S. and Canada distributor of Juan Valdez, Colombia's most iconic coffee brand. Products now sit in Target, Walgreens, Harris Teeter, and 130+ grocery chains across 21 states.
Target planned 55 stores. Demand forced expansion to 300+. Walgreens just went live in 1,700 locations. The company was targeting 3,000+ shelves by the end of 2026, but surpassed that goal ahead of schedule. Hundreds of more stores are already in the works as the company's growth continues.

When a Rate Move Becomes a Credit Move

A Slide Without a Shock

Monday closed lower again. None of these sessions has been dramatic. The S&P has not had a one percent down day in 42 sessions. Only 27% of its members trade above their fifty-day average. Meta gave back more than 4% after a five-week run. This is a market losing ground slowly while the averages stay respectable.

The Number That Is New

For three weeks the yield story has been a government story. Supply, term premium, buybacks that underdelivered. Monday it moved next door. Then look at what a leveraged borrower pays. The spread over Treasuries on high-yield corporate debt widened nine basis points in a session. It closed at 303, the highest since April. That is a small number in isolation. It is a large one as a first move.

Why the Spread Is the Tell

A Treasury yield is what the government pays to borrow. A spread is what a company pays on top. When the Treasury yield rises and the spread holds, the market is repricing money. When the spread widens on top of it, the market is repricing the borrower. Every refinancing this year now clears at the sum of the two. That is where a rate cycle stops being an index story and starts closing businesses.

Today and the Two Days After

Two prints land at ten this morning. Job openings and September consumer confidence. The PCE price index, the gauge the Fed targets, arrives tomorrow with the third estimate of second-quarter growth. Payrolls close the week on Friday. Watch the high-yield spread alongside the ten-year rather than the ten-year alone. If 303 widens further while equities hold up, the equity market is the one that has not caught on yet.

$84 Trillion Is About to Change Hands. How Much Will Your Family Keep?
Over $84 trillion is expected to pass from one generation to the next this decade.
If you're thinking about passing down wealth to your kids or grandkids…
The question is: how much of it survives the handoff?
When you leave cash, the bank reports it. When you leave a brokerage account, the government tracks every dollar. When you leave real estate, there are filings, attorneys, and public records.
By the time your heirs receive what you built, the system has already taken its cut, and left a paper trail for anyone to follow.
There is a better way.
Certain physical gold coins qualify as non-reportable transactions under IRS rules. No automatic reporting. No brokerage statement. No banking system required.
When it is time to pass them down, there are no account transfers, no waiting for approval, no middlemen.
You hand them directly to your children or grandchildren. Quietly. Privately. Instantly.
And here is what most people do not realize: you can use your existing 401(k), IRA, or TSP to buy them, tax-deferred and penalty-free.
The Quiet Wealth Playbook breaks down which coins qualify and how families are using them to simplify the handoff.
Because the wealth you built should arrive the way you intended, whole, private, and without anyone else's permission.
Sincerely,
